D&D Celebration was a lot of fun… and it sure brought surprises!
Shawn and I will share the full details on this week’s Mastering Dungeons podcast, but some of the highlights included:
Puzzles! (See below)
Games! (I played both the Witchlight 2-hour Intro and the Epic, and they were both a lot of fun. They are also an excellent overview of the carnival portion of the adventure.)
Seminars and liveplay.
Sage Advice discussed how monster stat blocks are being updated to simplify spell lists, and monsters will generally be tougher going forward.
The “Future of D&D” session shared that D&D will see a new version in 2024, backwards compatible with 5E!
There will be 2 classic settings in 2022, 1 in 2023, and a Rules Expansion Gift Set containing Volo’s, Xanathar’s, and a new book called Mysteries of the Multiverse. That book will pull together 30 races and 250 monsters from old sources, improving upon the previous design. The book will eventually be sold separately.
I’ll talk about the new version/edition on both the Mastering Dungeons podcast and this blog. But today, I want to share with you the fun puzzles found in the D&D Celebration event.
These puzzles were fairly challenging. If you are curious, want to see the rewards (which included sneak peaks from Fizban’s Treasury of Dragons), or want to see the puzzles and perhaps use them in your games, I walk through every puzzle and how to solve it in this video:
