GameHole Con 13 takes place Oct. 15th – Oct. 18th, 2026 in Madison, Wisconsin. This heralded convention has a wide range of excellent RPGs, seminars, and events. I’m extremely thankful to be a guest at this convention, joining an incredible guest list.
(As I captured in video here, conventions aren’t cheap and they aren’t always the best option for creators. But, if you can afford conventions financially, GameHole is a great option! There is also an amazing PoC event and seminars each year.)
I would love to see you at the con! You can find all of my events here, or click on the specific games and events noted below:
This will be a fun session for anyone interested in Draw Steel. I’ll pick an exciting portion of the Crack the Sun project and run it – no Draw Steel experience necessary!
Come play Draw Steel in an exciting session inspired by the upcoming Crack the Sun mega-adventure! Teos Abadía is the project director for Crack the Sun and will run this scenario. Pregens will be provided and no experience is necessary as you jump into the action. This same event runs twice at the convention.
Turns out, Shawn won’t be here this year. Instead, MCDM’s James Introcaso will join me to talk about his new Crows RPG, conventions, and more. Bring fun questions for both of us!
Join Teos and Shawn as they record an episode of Mastering Dungeons live. Hear the news, get your questions answered, and hear more about game design and the game industry!
I join John Kovalic, Sarah Babe, Shanna Germain, and Ronin Wong for this seminar. I think about this topic a lot and have discussed some aspects of it on my Success in RPGs show.
As a creator, how do we balance the demands of our career with everything else in our lives? How can we be our best healthy selves, enjoy the process of creating, and feel good about our future goals and past accomplishments?
I join Michael Shea, Keith Ammann, Sarah Babe, and Greg Marks to discuss creating awesome challenges for your game. I love this topic!
How do GMs keep the challenge going – ensuring monsters and villains meet the expectation of their role in the story – without taking agency away from the characters or frustrating players? In this panel our hosts help navigate the sweet spot between boring encounters and frustrating encounters – finding the perfect challenge to bring to your heroes.
Doug leads the development of the HeroQuest game and is running a scenario I wrote! Doug is a superb boss to work for, amazing designer, player, and GM!
Heed the call of adventure! Heroquest is the perfect entry point for new RPG players. Step into the role of one of the 4 mythic heroes and team up to battle monsters and defeat Zargon’s evil forces. This quest was designed by Teos Abadia. The storyteller for this event is Doug Hopkins, one of the minds behind the iconic dungeon-crawling adventure game at Avalon Hill. No experience required. All materials provided.
I am looking forward to the PoC Event and I’ll be around the con every day. If you are attending, please say hi – and please remind me of your name – my memory for names is the worst! Members of our Patreon, be sure to check our thread on our convention plans!
If you haven’t picked up a badge yet, here is the GameHole Con attendance page. I hope to see you there!
The Gamehole Con site lists the day and time for the DM Tips seminar as Saturday 1pm.
Thanks for catching that! I’ve corrected my post. Much appreciated.
